Abstract

BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) — In order to vigorously cultivate and practice the core socialist values, promote traditional Chinese virtues, and foster a new ethos and image for our times, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Office of Spiritual Civilization Construction of the CPC Central Committee, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the All-China Women’s Federation, and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission have recently issued the “Notice on the Selection and Commendation of the Ninth National Ethical Role Models” (the full text is attached separately), along with its implementation measures. These documents set forth plans to launch the selection and commendation process for the ninth cohort of national ethical role models, calling for extensive campaigns to study and publicize exemplary figures, guiding the public to admire, learn from, and strive to become role models themselves, thereby fostering a robust social atmosphere characterized by moral integrity, a commitment to goodness, emulation of virtuous individuals, and the pursuit of universal moral excellence.

Notice on the Selection and Commendation of the Ninth National Role Models of Morality

Since 2007, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Office for Spiritual Civilization, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the All-China Women’s Federation, and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission have jointly organized a national selection and commendation event for moral role models every two years. These efforts have vigorously fostered and practiced the core socialist values, fully leveraged the exemplary and guiding role of moral role models, promoted traditional Chinese virtues, cultivated new trends and a fresh ethos for our times, and continuously raised the people’s ideological awareness, moral standards, and civic literacy. The aim is to encourage everyone to become practitioners of noble morality, guardians of civilized conduct, and creators of a better life, thereby fostering a robust social atmosphere characterized by reverence for virtue, emulation of the virtuous, and the pursuit of moral excellence in all spheres of society. With the approval of leading comrades of the CPC Central Committee, we are now launching the ninth national selection and commendation campaign for moral role models. Relevant matters are hereby notified as follows.
